We’ve just returned from a weekend away in Pembrokeshire, West Wales. We had a great time visiting our friends Gavin and Luke, otherwise known as the Cruise Monkeys and of course meeting Honey for the first time.
Joining them at their home we enjoyed a cuppa and catch up, a walk with Honey and then a few (!!) glasses (oops bottles) of Prosecco before heading into Milford Haven to sample the nightlife. Well it would have been rude not to!
We had great fun and Ken and Luke were narrowly beaten in a game of pool later in the evening.
As Ken and I were staying in the town we didn’t have far to roll back to sleep off our night out.
I have to say the next day was a slow start for me in particular but we met Gavin and Luke for breakfast before heading back to pick up Honey for a ride out. Our trip around the area took us to see Luke’s Grandparents (and their new little pups) before heading off to the Stackpole Estate to walk Honey.
This area can trace its roots back to the Bronze Age, although it was most prominent through the Elizabethan and Georgian times until its demise in the Mid-20th Century . Much of the former private estate now belongs to the National Trust and the ponds are is a great place to walk with points of interest and picnic areas. Wildlife to spot there include bats, otters, butterflies and wildfowl.
It was lovely to walk through one of the wooded trails with Honey and pause at one of the hides to see the local wildlife.
Its amazing what fresh air can do for the constitution and after all the excitement it was back home for a couple of cocktails and a takeaway.
Sunday had an easy feel to it. As we had to leave our accommodation we checked out and went to Gavin and Lukes for a cuppa and more catching up. We had Sunday Lunch together at Kenny’s in the town which we all enjoyed but then had to think about saying our farewells.
All too soon it was time to head home over the Bridge after a lovely time visiting the area and our friends. Until next time
